Fight Cold and Flu with Salt Therapy

2/7/2019

Comments

Part two of the cold and flu blog “mini-series” consists of information on how dry salt therapy can help you fight the cold and flu in a holistic way. Aspen Tree Hypnotherapy and Wellness offers salt therapy within our relaxing spacious infrared sauna. You can experience salt therapy with the heat of the sauna or without, solo, with a partner, or with children. If you have additional questions after reading this post, feel free to contact me.

What is Dry Salt Therapy?
Dry salt therapy which also goes by the name of "halotherapy," is a natural healing method that involves breathing in pharmaceutical grade micronized salt within the confines of a small space. Why would you want to breath in micronized salt you ask? Great question!

Salt is anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and mucokinetic (moves mucus). Dry salt is also extremely absorbent. Our halogenerator micronizes dry pharmaceutical grade salt and aerosolizes it so that you are able to breathe in the dry salty air during your 40-45 minute session. Because the salt is micronized, it reaches deep in to the alveoles of your lungs and acts as a toothbrush, gently cleaning your respiratory system of pollutants, allergens, and airborne illnesses all while moving mucus out of your system. The really nice part? It is as easy as simply sitting and breathing!

This makes it easy to see why you would want to add dry salt therapy to your pro-active cold and flu fighting regimen!

Sounds Great But What Are the Other Benefits of Salt Therapy?
There are many great benefits to using salt therapy on a regular basis. Salt is very beneficial to your skin so if you have difficulty with acne, skin rashes, skin irritations, etc. or simply want to nourish healthy skin, salt therapy can help.

Salt therapy is especially helpful when combined with infrared sauna therapy because you sit in the sauna nude which allows the salt to reach more areas of your skin than it does when you are fully clothed in other types of salt chambers. Because salt is "hydrophilic" (it is attracted to water and water is attracted to it) your perspiration attracts the salt and readily seeps in to your pores.

Here are a handful of issues that regular use of dry salt therapy can assist with:
  • Acne
  • Allergies
  • Asthma
  • Breathlessness
  • Bronchitis
  • Colds
  • COPD
  • Cystic Fibrosis
  • Depression
  • Dry Skin
  • Ear Infections
  • Eczema
  • Insomnia
  • Laryngitis
  • Sinus Infections
  • Sleep Apnea
  • Snoring
  • Stuffy Nose
  • Psoriasis
  • Rashes
  • Rosacea
  • Tonsillitis

Conclusion
Dry salt therapy helps fight colds and flu due to it's anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and mucokinetic properties. Because of those properties it's able to help remove unwanted bacteria that causes cold and flu, as well as helps your immunity by removing other unwanted pollutants and allergens. It's a simple and effective way to promote good health and restore health that has been compromised due to seasonal germs. It's also great for children and adults alike!

Here I want to share more about me personally. My husband and I have known each other since 1995 and were married in 2000. We have two teenaged sons and one Australian Cattledog/Bull Terrier whom we rescued in 2016.

Our life is just like everyone else's; full of joy, frustrations, laughter, and tears. We embrace it all with ease and sometimes without it. It's what we do. We live. We enjoy. We learn and at the end of the day, we are together and alive and that's what matters the most.
