![]() There is a line between looking forward and living in the moment. That line is demarcated by gratitude. Do your daily steps take you there? When we are living in the moment of gratitude and look to the future to set goals, we are acknowledging the current goodness in our lives while preparing for more. If we ignore the line of gratitude then we are simply looking forward expecting goodness at some point in the future. Why would we see it then if we currently ignore what we have now? I encourage you to live in your current moments. Look around and express gratitude for the little and bigger things in your life. The sun that rises, the air you breathe, those in your life that you care about, your ability to live, love, and accomplish something in this world, the beauty that this Universe exists. Breathe it all in with conscious deep breaths every day. Utter your gratitude out loud. Let others know why you are grateful and ask them what they are grateful for. Gratitude is contagious and we need more of it in our lives. Next, focus on your goals and express gratitude for the brain you have that helps you set them. Express gratitude for the body that helps you obtain them. Express gratitude for those who share in your joy, success, and who encourage you. There is always something or somebody to be grateful for. “Gratitude is an antidote to negative emotions, a neutralizer of envy, hostility, worry, and irritation. It is savoring; it is not taking things for granted; it is present-oriented.” - Sonja Lyubomirsky If you are having trouble taking steps towards gratitude, message me so we can discuss it. If you are a Gratitude Pro, leave a comment telling us what you do to show your thanksgiving. |
