Who has ever had their flame reduced to smoldering embers? Are you saying "Ooo! Ooo! Me! Me!" or are you shyly, slowly raising your hand without making a sound? Either way, it feels crummy when it happens right? We live in a society where we are made to feel like we should thrive in independency and be silent in adversity. We live in a society who says that we should only be happy, feel good, and be grateful. The truth is, we are individuals with a vast range of emotions and stifling those emotions while forcing ourselves to feel only one or two ways is not authentic at best and harmful at worst.
The reason I love this quote by Albert Schweitzer is because it acknowledges that sometimes we are low. It also acknowledges that it's ok to lean on someone now and then to have help fanning our fire. We simply cannot make it through the world utterly alone but with the right tools and emotional support, we can certainly make it together.
In a society that rewards independence at the risk of people feeling isolated and alone, find those in your bit of the Universe that have the ability to spark your fire and help you feel connected. Sometimes people like that aren't easy to find and seem to be few and far between. If you do have those people in your life, make the conscious effort to share your gratitude and tell them how much they mean to you. They will appreciate it and will be even more willing to stick around through the hard times because they know you see and appreciate them too.
If you don't have any of those people in your life, turn to motivational books that reignite your flame and give silent thanks to the authors who share their wisdom. Participate in an instructor led activity and share appreciation for how they drive and motivate you.
Lastly, look deep in the mirror and share your gratitude for the person staring back. Find the ember, add wood, give it a blow and watch it ignite. No one knows you better than yourself and no one will ever be with you more than yourself.
If you find that you have trouble believing in yourself, that you always have trouble finding close friends or connecting with family members, message me about how Reiki and Hypnotherapy can help. You CAN walk this world with others and you have much to do here so...get to it!
Now, I would love to know who rides with you through it all or what you do to reignite your own fire. Please share below!
